ITO Manages the NNM Systems
Do you manage the distributed NNM systems from a central location? Then an automated system management tool such as HP IT Operations (ITO) can improve your productivity, reduce your problem time-to-resolution, and increase the uptime of your systems. You can add NNM systems to ITO and view all NNM systems in a single window, as shown in Figure 16-1.

You can take advantage of the customized ITO monitoring to perform the following checks:
that the read/write map is open and running properly
the /var/adm/messages, a syslog file for known problem signs
detect and terminate spinning processes, especially for X-clients
Since ITO also monitors MeasureWare alarms, you probably want to examine the preset threshold settings and change them so they reflect your own experience. Otherwise, you are going to receive a lot of unwanted alarms for conditions that you know from experience are not degrading the user’s response time.
