Author Biography

John Blommers is a 16-year veteran with Hewlett–Packard Consulting who has had the pleasure of recommending, developing, and implementing HP OpenView Network Node Manager (NNM) as a network management solution for HP customers. He began working with NNM in the version 1.0 days when the application was called xnm. He’s installed it at dozens of HP customer sites and taught the HP customer training.

The author’s background is strong in the networking and UNIX arenas. As a network consultant, he designs, audits, and troubleshoots customer networks. For new networks or application upgrades, he develops network capacity plans with the aid of simulation technology, with over a dozen to his credit in the past few years.

Mr. Blommers has a Bachelors of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Victoria, Canada.

The author teaches at the University of Washington. Outreach Department, in the Data Communications Certificate Program. He currently teaches LAN/WAN Design and Management and Advanced Network Management.
