Summary

In this chapter we introduced the main concepts of creating GUI applications using .NET Framework classes. Your window class should inherit from the Form class, which provides much of the window functionality. The text output on the window is referred to as drawing. All the drawing occurs in the OnPaint method of the Form class that we may override and provide our version.

Your forms may contain different controls, such as labels, textboxes, and buttons. You add them to the Controls collection of your form. In order to interact with the user, we employ the event-handling mechanism and delegates.

The ListBox control is useful to treat lists of data. It provides an easy interface for working against its Items collection.

We presented the Stock Management System as an illustration of a more complex user interface.
