THE REPORTER
Not everyone who is trying to make a difference is cut out to be part of the rebellion. The Reporter always had a way with words, and she plans to show the tyrants in the city center that the pen is mightier than the high-tech laser weapon. Bright, tenacious and stubborn, the Reporter is willing to follow a lead to the ends of the earth if it will bring her closer to the truth.
1 STRIKE A POSE
The Reporter can get in people’s faces and press her case, but she knows that there is a time and a place to step back and listen. She’s in listening mode now; slant the line of her body so it looks like she’s leaning casually against the wall.
2 FILL IT IN
Evaluate your pose and make adjustments to her anatomy. Plant her feet closer together to make the stance more casual. Turn her head a bit away from the action. She’s paying attention, but she wants to be discreet. The first pose was a bit too obvious for what she’s trying to accomplish.
3 DRESS YOUR CHARACTER
Like the Con Man, the Reporter wanders through the city center to get what she wants, blending in with the privileged to dig for information. She’s not trying to catch attention, though. She only wants to be a face in the crowd, so don’t make her clothes too extravagant.
4 ADD DETAIL
Try to strike a balance with her outfit. It should match the city center’s aesthetic, but not be particularly loud or remarkable. She’s passing herself off as just another citizen, casually typing on her notepad. Make sure to include storage space for her equipment, though. She’ll need notes, pens and listening devices (like what she’s got in her ear). The extra room in her baggy cape provides plenty of space to stow everything.
5 ADD COLOR
While you’re designing this palette, pick colors that will blend well with the bright hues of the city center, but be careful not to use anything too striking or memorable. Her goal is to hide in plain sight, and her palette should reflect this.
Use your palette to fill in her outfit, then add a few finishing touches to help with her disguise. The visor helps to obscure her face and eyes, and the colored wig keeps her natural hair hidden.
