A separate window that shows up on the screen when a link or button is clicked is known as a pop-up window. Pop-up windows can be modal and non-modal. When a popup is non-modal, it opens up as a regular window and when the popup is modal, it usually shows up within a frame in the parent window. It may also show up inside the main HTML content and not specifically in a frame.
