Calculus is a branch of mathematics developed
independently by German mathematician Gottfried
Leibniz and English scientist Isaac Newton. It answers
two fundamental questions: how to determine rates of
change and how to calculate the area under a curve.
Dierential calculus is concerned with the rate of change
and integral calculus with the sum of a function, or the
area under a curve. Integration and dierentiation are
inverse operations, in other words, they undo one another.
