About the Authors

Robert G. Eccles is a Professor of Management Practice at the Harvard Business School. He joined the faculty in 1979 and received tenure in 1989. He left in 1993 to work in the private sector and rejoined the faculty in 2007. In addition to this current book, he has written three books on corporate reporting, including One Report: Integrated Reporting for a Sustainable Strategy (with Michael P. Krzus), which is the first book on this subject. One Report was the winner of the 2010 PROSE award in the category of Business, Finance, & Management. In addition, he has written over 25 articles and 20 teaching cases on integrated reporting and sustainability.

Eccles is now working on two new books. The first is Mobilizing the Global 1000 and is being done in collaboration with Professor George Serafeim of the Harvard Business School. The second is Materiality Matters and is being done in collaboration with Tim Youmans, a researcher at the Harvard Business School.

Eccles is a member of the International Integrated Reporting Council (http://www.integratedreporting.org/) and is the founding Chairman of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) (www.sasb.org).

Eccles received an S.B. in Mathematics and an S.B. in Humanities and Social Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973. He received an A.M. in Sociology in 1975 and a Ph.D. in Sociology in 1979, both from Harvard University.

Michael P. Krzus is an independent integrated reporting consultant and researcher. He has provided advisory services to participants in the International Integrated Reporting Council Pilot Programme Business Network, companies exploring the adoption of integrated reporting and consulting organizations seeking to enhance integrated reporting capabilities for clients. Mike is a member of the SASB's Advisory Council, a Fellow of the Governance & Accountability Institute, and a member of KKS Advisors' LLC Expert Network.

Mike is coauthor, with Robert G. Eccles, of The Integrated Reporting Movement: Meaning, Momentum, Motives and Materiality and One Report: Integrated Reporting for a Sustainable Strategy, the first book on integrated reporting.

Mike has 38 years of industry and public accounting experience in accounting principles, assurance and auditing standards, corporate financial reporting, internal audit, and SEC rules and regulations. Prior to founding Mike Krzus Consulting, he worked for Arthur Andersen; BDO Seidman; Checkers, Simon & Rosner; Grant Thornton; and Illinois Central Railroad.

Mike earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Calumet College of St. Joseph and is a Certified Public Accountant. He served three years in the Army including a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Sydney Ribot is a Research Associate at the Harvard Business School. She joined the staff in 2011, providing support to Professors Amy C. Edmondson and Robert G. Eccles in the Technology and Operations Management and General Management units, respectively. In addition to this book, she has written teaching cases on entrepreneurship, integrated reporting, and corporate governance issues.

Ribot received a B.A. in English and a minor in Asian & Middle Eastern studies from Dartmouth College in 2011. In 2013, she received a Reynolds Scholarship for Foreign Study in Istanbul, Turkey, where she is currently based as creator of a narrative web TV series about life in the developing megacity. She is committed to creating a sustainable future through dialogue and innovation—be it humor that travels or integrated reporting.
