Robert F. Bruner is University Professor, Distinguished Professor, and dean emeritus at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. He also serves as the Compton Visiting Professor in World Politics at University of Virginia’s Miller Center of Public Affairs. He has published research in various areas, including corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, investing in emerging markets, financial crises, leadership, and general management. He is the author or co‐author of numerous books, articles, teaching case studies, and notes. The Commonwealth of Virginia and University of Virginia granted him their highest teaching awards. He has been on the faculty of the Darden School since 1982. From 2005 to 2015 he served as dean of the Darden School. Sean D. Carr is the executive director and CEO of the Global Innovation Exchange at the University of Washington. He also holds an appointment as affiliate associate professor at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. Previously, he served as executive director of the Batten Institute for entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, where he was an administrator and faculty member from 2013 to 2022. His applied research in new ventures and corporate finance has contributed to the development of award‐winning case studies, digital media, and other teaching materials. Previously, he spent nearly 10 years as a journalist, having served as a producer for both CNN and for ABC’s World News Tonight with Peter Jennings. As a writer and researcher, he contributed to numerous business‐related books. He holds an MBA and PhD in management from the University of Virginia, an MS in journalism from Columbia University, and a BA in classics from Northwestern University.
