Conclusion: There Are Challenges Everywhere We Look

Just because I've styled a challenge as “miscellaneous” doesn't mean it isn't important. For some families, the question of what to do about a concentrated securities position dominates everything. And in addition to the challenges I've spent some time on in this chapter, there are others I could have talked about: overspending (see Chapter 21), asset protection planning (which can be important for highly visible families), and even obscure issues like the use of soft dollars by managers to compensate brokers, or by families to compensate their advisors.

But whatever the challenge, stewardship is stewardship. I hardly need to remind my readers that a great deal is at stake: for you, for your family, for your country, and for the broader world.
