Constitutional Basics

Part 1’s chapters look back at the historical and theoretical underpinnings of the Constitution, including the development of political thought on the way government can and should work.

We also meet some of the men, often called the founding fathers, who led the American Revolution in seeking liberty for the 13 colonies from England and King George III. In addition, we follow the framers, the men who went on to create the Constitution and change the world with a new form of government. We also explore how and why they created the Constitution, their mission and motives, and the many obstacles they had to overcome through compromise.
