Conclusion

Twitter can be an immensely powerful tool for organizations that want to make a difference in the world. The key is learning the most effective way to use the real-time information network to meet these aims. In Twitter for Good, we've explored how any organization can best excel on Twitter using a straightforward and effective framework. The mission of Twitter—to promote open information—is at the heart of cause-based work, and my hope is that my model will help you reach these aims.

Twitter works because it is simple and easy to use. The barrier to entry is low, and the potential for impact is high. As such, it levels the playing field for change activation. In turn, the T.W.E.E.T. framework is modeled after the very platform it was built for. Innovative, instinctive, and practical, it marries best practices with basic usability. Learning to use Twitter well is not a science, but an ongoing lesson. Using the T.W.E.E.T. framework is a similar process.

As you begin to apply what you've learned in this book, I hope you will bear two things in mind. First, recall that Twitter is much more than a social media network; rather, it's a global real-time information network—and every day, you and your organization are newsworthy. Second, remember that the key to success on Twitter is in the T.W.E.E.T. (Target, Write, Engage, Explore, Track). By remembering these two things, you will be well on your way to changing the world, one Tweet at a time.
