As an academician, Shrawan Kumar Singh has experience in teaching, research, and writing that spans over six decades. He has held academic positions at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) (retired as professor and director of the School of Social Sciences); the University of Delhi (ARSD College); the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU); and Ranchi University (GLA College, Daltonganj). His field of interest covers Indian economic policy, business environment, and international business. He has a number of publications to his credit in the form of books, articles, and papers in various journals. He has been associated as visiting faculty with the Department of Commerce and Business Studies, University of Delhi; Sri Ram College of Commerce; Jamia Millia Islamia, Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurugram; and FORE School of Management, New Delhi.
He has participated in teleconferencing, audio–video programs, and phone-in-programs of Akashvani, Doordrashan, and other television channels. He has been a member of the University Grants Commission UGC Committee on Curriculum Development in Economics (2001), which recommended the UGC Model Curriculum in Economics for under- and postgraduate courses. He was a member of academic bodies of various Universities like the Academic Council and the Board of Courses of Studies as well as professional bodies. Recently, he contributed to UGC’s e-PG Pathshala Project under the NMEICT mission of MHRD, Government of India, as a content writer in the field of business economics. His book Understanding Demonetization in India: A Deft Stroke of Economic Policy was published in April 2019 by Business Expert Press (BEP), New York, USA.
