About the Author

A.J. (Tony) Martyr BSc. After being trained though a Student Apprenticeship with a large UK-based engineering group, Tony Martyr has spent his whole career involved in the specification and management of multidisciplinary projects around the world. His individual projects have ranged in duration from hours to years and have been located in over 40 different countries. They have ranged from installing and commissioning a water reticulation system of a small town and the post-disaster repair of Pacific Island infrastructure, to the creation and installation of computerized automotive engine test systems, designing and building a bulk cement handling system and building his own track-car.

Tony Martyr has held senior- and director-level project engineering and project department roles in leading UK and European engineering companies and was Honorary Visiting Professor of Powertrain Engineering at the University of Bradford for some years. Before retirement in 2014, he was employed by an international engineering group to train the next generation of engineering project managers in Europe and Asia; during which many of the rules included in this book were finally developed. His published works include papers on Transfer of Technology and Vehicle test systems and the book “Engine Testing: the design, building and use of Powertrain test facilities” now in its 4th edition.
