Chapter 23. XHTML
Although this chapter describes XHTML, an application of XML that is being promoted as the successor to HTML 4.0, it can also be treated as a description of HTML 4.0 itself (with only minor differences). XHTML also serves as a template from which other, usually smaller, 'dialects' are defined (including WML and E-Book).
