In Chapter 4, "Advanced XML," we learned about the DOM and how to use it to manipulate XML documents. In addition, there are a number of things developers might want to do beyond the basics provided by the DOM Level I and Level II interfaces. The Java 2.0 JDK specifically provides a number of collection classes, each adding specific functionality. In this chapter we will examine these classes and see how we can extend the DOM interfaces and classes in a natural way via Java collections.
