Chapter Eight. Advanced COM to .NET Interop

In this chapter, I discuss advanced aspects of COM to .NET Interop, that is, using .NET components from a COM/Win32 client. Some of the issues that I discuss in this chapter include the following: techniques for creating objects without requiring registration, object life cycle implications, class interfaces, rich error information, using Windows Forms controls as ActiveX controls, managed events in unmanaged clients, and deployment. By the time you are done with this chapter, you will be ready to use COM to .NET Interop in most real-world scenarios.
