I am dedicating this book to Stuart Green, Ken Scott, and Simon Springate, with whom I discussed many of the ideas in this book and who helped make this new edition possible.

I also dedicate the book to Olivier Lazar, my former student, who challenged me on so many occasions—I had to make him a partner!

To Greg Githens, who I quoted (before even knowing him) in the first edition of this book and with whom, I have since discovered, I share a vision of strategic leadership and a love of blues music.
