About the Authors

George R. Murray is a CPA with more than 45 years of experience based in Surprise, Arizona. He was formerly managing partner with Ernst & Whitney (now Ernst & Young) and M.O. Wolfe & Company, both in South Bend, Indiana. He has been in private practice since 1991, specializing in taxation, litigation support, and consulting services for small businesses and start-ups. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1957 with a degree in accounting. He is married with 6 children and 12 grandchildren, and is glad to have the opportunity to put the advice he’s been giving clients all these years down on paper.

Kathleen Murray attempted to follow in her father’s footsteps by becoming a CPA but soon learned she was happier as a writer. Her articles have appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Time, and Forbes, among other publications. In addition, she’s held various writing and editing positions in the United States and London and taught business journalism. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1982 with a degree in accounting and received a Master’s in journalism from Northwestern University in 1986. She lives in Vienna, Virginia, with her husband and three sons.
