Continuing with the same example but on the other extreme of complexity, we have the model of order 0. This model is just a Gaussian model of the variable  disguised as a linear model. Notice from Figure 5.5 that this model is only capturing the average of the dependent variable, and is completely independent of the values of the variable . We say that this model has underfitted.
