Blaise Cronin is Rudy Professor Emeritus of Information Science at Indiana University Bloomington. He holds an M.A. from Trinity College Dublin, a Ph.D and D.S.Sc. from the Queen’s University of Belfast, and an honorary D.Litt. from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. His books include The Citation Process (1984), Elements of Information Management (with E. Davenport, 1991), The Scholar’s Courtesy (1995), The Hand of Science (2005), The Web of Knowledge (edited with H. Barsky Atkins, 2000), Beyond Bibliometrics (edited with C. R. Sugimoto, 2014), and Scholarly Metrics Under the Microscope (edited with C. R. Sugimoto, 2015). For 10 years he was editor of the Annual Review of Information Science and Technology and for 7 years editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology. In 2013 he received the Derek de Solla Price Prize and Medal in Vienna for outstanding contributions to the field of quantitative studies of science.
