Wireless attacks

There are two main types of attacks relating to wireless networks:

  • Evil twin: An evil twin is where there is another WAP that looks like the legitimate WAP but it has no security, this is to lure you into using this WAP and is where your traffic will be captured.
  • Rogue access point: A rogue access point is where an additional access point is joined to your corporate network, yet again with no security, to lure users into connectivity to it. This can be prevented by installing 802.1x-managed switches where all devices connecting to the network are authenticated.
