About the Authors

Avy Joseph

Avy is the Principal, Director and Co-founder of the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CCBT) and City Minds. He is a registered and accredited therapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and a board member of the Association of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapists (AREBT).

Avy began working as a counsellor and therapist over twenty years ago, developing and running workshops on Relationship Problems, Phobias, Panic Disorders as well as Goal Achievement. It was when lecturing both nationally and internationally that his interest in evidence-based cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) grew. He went on to gain a master's degree in rational-emotive behaviour therapy from Goldsmiths College (one of the main schools of cognitive and behavioural therapy). He has recently published Visual CBT with Maggie Chapman, Co-Founder of the College. Other published works include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Your route out of perfectionism, self-sabotage and other everyday habits.

Maggie Chapman

Maggie is a Director and Co-founder of the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CCBT) and City Minds. She is an experienced therapist who, with over twenty years' experience, has developed an integrative approach to her work, employing CBT and brief, solution-focused strategies.

Following an initial career in business, Maggie gained a degree in psychology and retrained as a trauma and bereavement counsellor before going on to lecture for many years both nationally and internationally, developing many courses, seminars and workshops, which have culminated in the development of specialised courses at the College. She has private practices in central and south-west London. She has recently published Visual CBT with Avy Joseph.
