To sideload ADE content to your NOOKcolor or NOOK (referenced as NOOKcolor from here on), connect your NOOKcolor to your computer, and launch ADE if it’s not already running. Drag the ebook from your ADE library to the NOOK icon in the bookshelf. ADE supports both protected PDF files and protected EPUB files.
When ADE books are copied to your NOOKcolor, ADE creates a folder called Digital Editions, and the books are copied to this folder. Unlike protected books from eReader.com and Fictionwise, ADE ebooks don’t require you to enter any information to open them. As long as your NOOKcolor is an authorized device, you can open ADE EPUB books.
When you sideload content onto your NOOK, you find the items in My Documents. You need to tap Check for New Content before the new item is visible in My Documents.
You don’t need to use ADE to sideload ADE EPUB books onto your NOOKcolor. I prefer using Calibre to manage all my ebooks and use it to sideload ADE books onto my NOOKcolor. See Chapter 20, “Managing Your ebooks with Calibre,” for more information about Calibre.
