Though setting goals begins the process, there is a great deal more to goal achievement. With about thirty minutes of focus, you can significantly increase the likelihood of achieving your desired outcomes for the time period of your choice—a day, a month, six months, or a year.
Targeting your efforts narrows the number of things you need to focus on and lets you zone in on the most important activities for your success. This process works for any outcome or goal—from what you want to earn this year, to your health, to what you will do with the tips and tools in this book. The goal achievement process is designed for you to identify, plan, and execute; measure your progress; and celebrate your goal success. And while I can’t promise you won’t encounter roadblocks or speed bumps along the way (most of us do), you will have the opportunity to get where you want to be more easily and efficiently.
The goal achievement process is:
• Get ready: Do the preliminary work that ensures you set relevant goals.
• Take aim: Define the specific goal and make a solid plan to achieve it.
• Act to succeed: Identify your stakeholders, the resources you need, and the rewards for achieving your goal—your What’s in it for Me; then follow with a regular review and update of your goals.
• Celebrate: Keep yourself energized to reach your goals.
