• Set a realistic goal. Include the What and When of the goal and write the goal in the “now” (as if you were already “there”).
• Commit to the goal, verbally and in writing.
• Identify the Why—your real reward for achieving the goal.
• Share with a stakeholder.
• Take action! Find something every day (or at least weekly) that moves you forward.
• Acknowledge the roadblocks that pop up, work through them, or revise your plan around them.
• Celebrate your progress and final destination. Don’t just wait for the final end result; enjoy the progress points along the way.
• Use the 4R’s checkup process at regular intervals, monthly is recommended, to keep your goal achievement on track: Review your goal; Renew your commitment; Revise the goal as needed; Replace unnecessary goals.
