Leszek Szczecinski is an Associate Professor at Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS-EMT), University of Quebec, Montreal, Canada, and an Adjunct Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, McGill University, Montreal. In 1998–2001 he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Chile, and in 2009–2010 he was, as a Marie Curie Research Fellow, with CNRS, Laboratory of Signals and Systems, Gif-sur-Yvette, France. His research interests are in the area of communication theory, modulation and coding, ARQ, wireless communications, and digital signal processing.
Alex Alvarado is a Senior Research Associate at the Optical Networks Group, University College London, United Kingdom. In 2012–2014 he was a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellow at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and during 2011–2012 he was a Newton International Fellow at the same institution. He has visited INRS-EMT on various occasions during 2007–2013. Dr. Alvarado's research interests are in the general areas of digital communications, coding, and information theory.
