Planning Considerations
Small companies (< 300 employees) Larger companies (> 300 employees)
Planning and disaster teams will be smaller, and the members who participate may have to play more than one role. Planning and disaster teams will be larger and more complex. People will play specific roles, as there are more managerial resources from which to draw. Business processes and functions may also be more complex.
Plans may be less complex due to the smaller size of the business and workforce. Plans may involve more steps and sub-steps.
Most important steps:
  1. Have a plan that you follow, including some form of
Incident Commander and an Emergency Operations Center.
  2. Notify employees to take appropriate action based on the situation.
  3. Communicate and coordinate with emergency responders.
  4. Evacuate or use shelter in place.
  5. Control/contain the incident.
  6. Communicate with customers.
  7. Protect property and records.
  8. Terminate the Incident
Command system and return control to management.
  9. 9. Restore normal business operations.
Same steps as for small company, with the possibility of more sub-steps given the scope of the operation and the geographic area.
