Ceph provides a variety of different pool types and configurations. It also supports several different data-storage types to offer storage to clients. This chapter will look at the differences between replicated and erasure-coded pools, giving examples of the creation and maintenance of both. We will then move on to how to use these pools for the three data-storage methods: RADOS Block Device (RBD), object, and CephFS.
