Chapter 1. Abstract
This Redbooks publication contains helpful information for the IBM Cluster Systems
Management (CSM) for AIX administrator who is looking to utilize IBM Systems Director for
AIX. In 2009, IBM announced that CSM would not be actively enhanced and existing CSM
customers should evaluate to moving to one of two products in the future: xCAT (eXtreme
Cloud Administration Toolkit used for High Performance Computing customers) and IBM
Systems Director with VMControl (for commercial customers). Since that time there has been
no guide from IBM for the commercial AIX customer. This Redbook fills the gap and assists
these customers who are looking to transform their CSM environment to one managed by
IBM Systems Director.
