Preface
This IBM® Redbooks® publication helps you install, configure, and maintain the IBM zEnterprise EC12 server. The zEC12 offers new functions that require a comprehensive understanding of the available configuration options. This book presents configuration setup scenarios, and describes implementation examples in detail.
This book is intended for systems engineers, hardware planners, and anyone who needs to understand IBM System z® configuration and implementation. Readers should be generally familiar with current IBM System z technology and terminology. For details about the zEC12 server, see IBM zEnterprise EC12 Technical Introduction, SG24-8050 and IBM zEnterprise EC12 Technical Guide, SG24-8049.
Authors
This book was produced by a team of specialists from around the world working at the International Technical Support Organization, Poughkeepsie Center.
Karan Singh is a Project Leader at the International Technical Support Organization, Poughkeepsie Center. He writes extensively and teaches IBM classes worldwide on all areas of z/OS®.
Sandra Tomoko Minami Abe is a Senior IT Specialist and Systems Availability Leader in IBM Brazil. She has over 21 years of experience with IBM mainframe servers with expertise in z/OS, IBM Parallel Sysplex®, High Availability, and Data Center planning.
Srikanth R. Adige is a z/OS Technical Subject Matter Expert from IBM Global Technology Services® in IBM India. His areas of expertise include z/OS system software and support, Parallel Sysplex, and ISV products. He holds a degree in Engineering in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological university, Belgaum, India.
Lei Ming Cao is an Advisory System Service Representative from IBM China GTS TSS. He has five years of experience supporting mainframe and storage products in major national banks. He has worked as a China Technical Support Group member for high end storage products and System z hardware, providing level 2 product support for mainframe clients since 2011.
Joao Francisco Veiga Kiffer is an IT Specialist in the IBM System and Technology Group (STG) Brazil. He has 22 years of experience in z/OS, and has worked as a System z FTSS for a large Brazilian bank since April 2012. He formerly worked for IBM Strategic Outsourcing and IBM Lab Services in Brazil, running projects in the z/OS and z/OS Storage areas. His areas of expertise include z/OS, System z Hardware, and System z Storage products.
Woojin Lee is an IBM Multi-platforms System Services Representative in Korea. Woojin has worked for IBM for four years, and has experience supporting banking clients for System z, IBM System p®, and high-end storage systems. His areas of expertise include System z hardware, high-end storage, and client services.
Gianmauro De Marchi is an Advisor I/T Specialist in IBM Global Services, Italy. He has 27 years of experience in IBM working with z/OS-based client and systems. His areas of expertise include z/OS, Parallel Sysplex, and Hardware Configuration Definition. Gianmauro has supported several projects involving IBM zEnterprise® installations for IBM clients in Italy.
Kazuhiro Nakajima is a System z Technical Support Specialist for IBM Japan with over 10 years of experience in technical sales and supporting System z clients. His areas of expertise include System z hardware, z/OS, Capacity on Demand, System z connectivity, and Server Time Protocol (STP).
Botrous Thalouth is an IBM S/390® Development Consultant with the Cairo Technology Development Center (CTDC). He provides World Wide 2nd and 3rd level support for SM/370, Text Search Engine and Text extenders, z/OS, and DB/DC. He has over 35 years of experience with IBM mainframes starting from s/360 as an application and system programmer. He also worked in the IBM scientific center. While he was there, he designed and implemented an Arabic morphology system, the algorithm of which is used by many IT companies. Botrous provides support for and teaches many courses for IBM clients in the Arabian Gulf area for z/OS, z/VM®, IBM z/VSE®, Linux for System z, IBM CICS®, IBM DB2®, and application programming. Botrous has a Bachelor of Engineering from Cairo University.
