This IBM Redbooks® publication introduces the features and functions of the IBM Storwize V7000 and IBM Spectrum Virtualize™ V8.1 system through several examples. This book is aimed at pre-sales and post-sales technical support and marketing and storage administrators. It helps you understand the architecture of the Storwize V7000, how to implement it, and how to take advantage of its industry-leading functions and features.

This book was produced by a team of specialists from around the world working at the International Technical Support Organization, San Jose Center.
 
Jon Tate is a Project Manager for IBM System Storage® SAN Solutions at the ITSO, San Jose Center. Before joining the ITSO in 1999, he worked in the IBM Technical Support Center, providing Level 2/3 support for IBM mainframe storage products. Jon has 32 years of experience in storage software and management, services, and support. He is an IBM Certified IT Specialist, an IBM SAN Certified Specialist, and is Project Management Professional (PMP) certified. He is also the UK Chairman of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA).
Erwan Auffret has been a Storage Consultant for IBM Systems Lab Services at the Client global center of competence of Montpellier, France since 2016. He was previously an IBM FlashSystem Client Technical Specialist in Paris and also worked as an IBM System x servers IT specialist for six years. He was co-author of Tuning IBM System x Servers for Performance, SG24-5287. Erwan has also worked for Amadeus, a global IT solutions provider for airlines as a Product Manager for two years.
He holds a Master’s degree in computer sciences from the EFREI computers and electronics engineering school in Paris, and has been working in the IT industry for 12 years.
Pawel Brodacki is an Infrastructure Architect working for IBM Global Services Delivery Centre Polska, where he is a member of an international team involved in transformation of infrastructure of a multinational client. Pawel has over 20 years of experience. Before changing profession to Architecture, he was an IBM Certified IT Specialist working on various infrastructure, virtualization, and disaster recovery projects. His experience includes SAN, storage, highly available systems, disaster recovery solutions, IBM xSeries, Power and Blade servers, and several types of operating systems (Linux, IBM AIX, and® Microsoft Windows). Pawel obtained certifications from IBM, Red Hat, and VMware.
Libor Miklas at the time of writing, was an IT Architect working for IBM in the Czech Republic. He has 15 years of extensive experience within the IT industry. During the past eight years his main focus has been on data protection solutions, disaster recovery solutions, and on storage management and provisioning. Libor and his team designed, implemented, and supported midrange and enterprise storage environments for various global and local clients worldwide. He is an IBM Certified IT Architect, Certified Deployment Professional of IBM storage products and holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications. Libor has since left IBM.
Glen Routley is a SAN, Storage Virtualization, and FlashSystem technical support specialist in IBM Australia. He has 20 years of experience in the IBM System z® field and 15 years of experience as a SAN support engineer.
He leads the SAN, SAN Volume Controller (SVC)/Storwize and FlashSystem support team in A/NZ and has supported SVC and V7000 since their initial releases.
He has worked at IBM for 33 years and has co-authored numerous IBM publications.
 
James Whitaker is a Software Engineer for IBM Systems Storage based in the IBM Manchester Lab. He has 6 years experience testing and developing on Spectrum Virtualize, and has worked on a wide range of software features and hardware platforms across the portfolio. In his current role, he is the scrum master and technical lead of the team responsible for delivering new encryption features.
