Installanywhere has two authoring modes: The Project Wizard makes the process easier, but also makes choices for developers, while the advanced designer gives developers greater control of an installer project.
InstallAnywhere launches to the first frame of the Project Wizard unless the default preference has been changed in Edit | Preferences. To access an existing InstallAnywhere project, open the file, then select Advanced Designer, rather than selecting Next to continue on through the wizard.
The general process for developing an InstallAnywhere project is
Creating new projects
Setting Info
Pre-install actions
Files tasks
Post-install actions
Setting installer UI options
Configuring the project uninstaller
Building
Testing
The introductory tutorial builds an installer using the Project Wizard, which does not allow configuring pre-install or post-install actions.
