Testing and Quality Assurance for Websites

HIGH-QUALITY, SECURE, AND FUNCTIONAL applications and websites do not happen by accident. Rather, they are the result of many tests and retests. The end products are the web applications and websites people use every day. To help ensure a successful deployment, the system development process used must include knowledgeable participation of subject matter expertise (SME) in the review and approval phases of the development life cycle in use to manage, track, and document the project objectives from concept to deployment.

This chapter explores application development and testing for errors in design, errors in execution, and, especially, any security vulnerabilities. Also covered in this chapter is the monitoring of websites and applications in production environments and how they are managed throughout their life cycles.
