IN THE DIGITAL AND INFORMATION AGE, it’s difficult to maintain privacy. Employers, advertisers, friends, doctors, and almost everyone else is looking to find your information online. As more of our data and personal information are stored online, security and privacy become hard to maintain.

Privacy breaches, web vulnerabilities, and data theft are as big of a threat to personal data and information in homes and small offices as they are to big businesses. Every day thousands of individuals are duped out of money, suffer identity theft, or find their data compromised or just plain missing. This chapter explores various privacy concerns for home and small office (SOHO) users. We look at how vulnerabilities, threats, and security are a part of daily life at home and at work and some security best practices you can use to secure your data and computer.
