For obtaining firmware, there are some tools we will need to install. We will be using Kali Linux which has most of the tools we need installed by default. Here are the tools you will need:

• Kali Linux: Kali Linux is available for download via their site at https://www.kali.org/downloads/. It is recommended to use the Kali virtual images if you use VMware or VirtualBox, which can be found here https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-vmware-virtualbox-image-download/.
• Ettercap: Although Kali Linux has Ettercap installed by default, it is also available for download via https://ettercap.github.io/ettercap/downloads.html.
• Wireshark: Wireshark is included in Kali Linux by default and is also available for download at http://www.wireshark.org.
• SSLstrip: SSLstrip is included in Kali Linux by default and is also available for download at https://github.com/moxie0/sslstrip.
• Flashrom: Flashrom is not included in Kali Linux by default but we can easily install the tool using the following command:

apt-get install flashrom  

Alternatively, flashrom is available for download via https://www.flashrom.org/Downloads.
