Make Love + Work Come Alive

So now we get into the nitty-gritty. Precisely how you can follow what you love to a life that feels fully your own. Love sounds so lovely, but it also sounds soft, squishy, idealistic even. How can you create for yourself a more loving way of living when you’re faced every day with a world so busy it doesn’t even see you?

In this part of the book I’m going to try to be as practical as possible for you. We’re going to start with your relationships since no matter where you are on your journey, you’ll need to rely on others to help you. Then we’ll dive into your career—what can you do to find paths that truly fit you, in the face of so much workplace change? Then leading—specifically, how can you lead teams so that you give each team member the greatest possible chance to contribute what they love to the organization’s mission? And more broadly, which practices and characteristics reveal that your organization takes each person’s loves seriously? What does a true Love + Work organization look like?

Finally, we’ll look at how love can help you and others learn. Your school, college, and workplace training are all built without much focus on what you love. How can we all come together to remake learning so that it honors the uniqueness already there inside of you.
