Adafruit Funhouse

This house-shaped microcontroller
combines temperature, barometric
pressure, humidity, and light sensors,
giving you the basics of a weather station
or room monitor. With its built-in TFT
display you can quickly get a read out of
any sensor. For a simple project, or when
debugging and developing, this display
might be all you need. There are also 5
RGB LEDs and a buzzer to alert you to
what the board is up to, and pinouts for
digital, analog, and I²C sensors, allowing
you to make alarm systems, doorbells,
light control systems, and more.
The board is designed for Circuit Python;
Adafruit provides a library just for the
board allowing for easy programming of
its sensors, screen, and three capacitive-
touch buttons. It is also possible to flash
an Arduino program. Keep in mind that the
Funhouse’s processor is the new ESP32-S2
that supports Wi-Fi like its predecessor,

MyBar Cocktail Machine

I first saw this project at Maker Faire and
thought it looked really fun. I finally got
a chance to build one myself and I have
to say it delivers on its promise. The kit
becomes a handy robot that can mix and
dispense various concoctions based on
common ingredients, effectively creating a
robot bartender. Building the kit is simple
enough, primarily involving mounting
various pumps and sensors to a custom-
cut shell. The real fun happens when you
boot up the app (which feels well made)
and select a drink. MyBar buzzes to life and
spits out the proper amounts of each liquid
to get you your tasty treat.
The only downside won’t come as a
surprise to anyone who has worked in
restaurants or bars: You’re going to have to
clean this thing frequently to keep it from
becoming a sticky mess that attracts bugs.
