Appendix II. Compute your own IQ

You can use the following table to approximate your IQ from your WASI score. Your IQ can vary, depending upon your health and psychological condition. So don’t regard your computed IQ as a fixed quantity. If you scored 35 or more on the WASI you should have no trouble with advanced high school and college work, assuming you are willing to devote the necessary time and effort to it. But if you scored below 35, the exercises in this book will be extremely useful in improving your academic aptitude and computed IQ.

Students below age 17 are expected to score lower on the WASI. For students between 14–16, the IQ can be approximated by using the appropriate table.

The IQ of students below 14 cannot be accurately estimated from the WASI, but the exercises in the book can still be used to improve their analytical reasoning skills.

A full explanation of the history and limitations of IQ measurement can be found in Intelligence Can Be Taught by Arthur Whimbey.
