About the Authors

Bill Douglas was born in rural Kansas, and Angela Wong Douglas was born in urban Hong Kong, and they’ve been married for 30 years, which both will smilingly agree is a powerful testament to the stress-management potential of T’ai Chi. Angela and Bill were the 2009 Inductees to the Internal Arts Hall of Fame in New York, and are the co-founders of World T’ai Chi & QiGong Day and World Healing Day, celebrated annually in hundreds of cities in over 70 nations, and officially proclaimed by governors of 22 U.S. states, as well as senates, legislatures, and ministries in several nations. Bill and Angela received the Extraordinary Service in the Field of QiGong Award from the National QiGong Association and from the World Congress on QiGong.

Bill has been a T’ai Chi and mind-body source for The New York Times; The Wall Street Journal; Reader’s Digest; Prevention Magazine; The South China Morning Post; China’s Xinhua News Agency; and media worldwide. The T’ai Chi for Parkinson’s Disease DVD Bill presented in has been provided to people with Parkinson’s by physicians and neurologists nationwide, and he was a featured presenter at the National Parkinson’s Foundation Conference. Bill is the T’ai Chi Expert for best-selling naturopathic physician Dr. Andrew Weil’s websites. Bill and Angela were part of a select group of T’ai Chi teachers, chosen by the National Council on Aging, who created a national efficacy guide for aging professionals seeking to implement local T’ai Chi classes for seniors. Bill and Angela have studied and taught T’ai Chi and QiGong for nearly 30 years.

Bill is a prolific writer, winning the AOL/Chicken Soup for the Soul Writing Contest for his essay “Little League Baseball.” He also won Spiritual Enlightenment Magazine’s Best Awakening Fiction of the Year Award, for his 2012 novel The Awakening, which places a T’ai Chi master as the heroine in the midst of a nail-biting thriller with no more at stake than the future of the planet. Bill’s second novel, A Conspiracy of Spirits (also with a T’ai Chi master central to its story), was reviewed by Pulitzer nominee David W. Menefee, who wrote of it, “Bill Douglas is one of the most remarkable writers of our generation … on a par with Charles Dickens.”

Bill and Angela present nationally and worldwide on the role mind-body sciences will play in smoothing the trauma of the challenges facing modern humanity, and on T’ai Chi and QiGong for health and corporate wellness, and on their work organizing World Healing Day. Their unique and widely acclaimed presentations combine meditative experience with intellectual discussion of these issues. Their acclaimed DVDs, CDs, and books are available through their website at www.SMARTaichi.com, where you can also contact them with questions or to schedule speaking engagements.
