As with most hard things worth doing, I didn’t attempt this book on my own. Lucy Ormonde showed up again to make The New Hustle a project to be proud of, just as she did the first time with Winging It. She must enjoy suffering as much as I do, ha! Thanks, Luce, for seeing in me what others often don’t and for putting in all the long hours at diners and bars and dodgy airport hotels and our kitchen bench to bring this work alive. We survived, again!

Dani, you’re my greatest cheerleader and give me a stupidly imbalanced amount of support. Our friendship is deeply lopsided, and I intend to spend the rest of my life evening it up a little. Morrie, Hayley, Tan—I love that even though oceans separate us, we always pick up where we left off, and I know you’d take my call at 3 a.m. on any day, just as I would yours. Azure, you once told me that the only good thing to come out of 2020 was gaining you as family, and I agree. You’ve saved me more than once.

To my family—particularly my mama, dad and sister—thanks for being such a calming and sensible force in my life. I most definitely did not inherit a moment of your patience or steadiness, and for the soft landing you give me I’ll always be grateful. Poppy—I think I told you enough how lucky I feel to have had you as my grandfather before you stopped being able to hear it.
