About the Author

Roger Schwarz is an organizational psychologist and president and CEO of Roger Schwarz & Associates Inc., a consulting firm that helps leaders and their teams, organizations, and those who support them use facilitative skills to create fundamental change. For more than 35 years, he has consulted, taught, facilitated, coached, and spoken with groups on the subjects of facilitation, teams, and leadership. His clients include corporations; federal, state, and local governments; educational institutions; and nonprofit organizations. He is also the author of Smart Leaders, Smarter Teams and coauthor with Anne Davidson, Peg Carlson, and Sue McKinney of The Skilled Facilitator Fieldbook. His writing also appears in Harvard Business Review online.

Roger was formerly associate professor of public management and government and assistant director at the Institute of Government, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1996, he left his tenured position to found Roger Schwarz & Associates.

Roger earned his PhD and AM in organizational psychology from the University of Michigan, his MEd. degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and his BS degree in psychology from Tufts University. He lives and works in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
