About the Author

Kevin Lee Allen is a multiple-award-winning scenic and lighting designer who works in theatre, film, and television. Additionally, he and Kathleen McDonough create experiences for museums, corporations, fashion, and special events. Notable projects include productions of Romeo and Juliet, The Petrified Forest (Emmy winner), The Tempest, MSNBC News, the United States Government, CNN (BDA winner), CNN International, Ben Franklin’s Ghost (a virtual interview with Benjamin Franklin), WXIA (PROMAX Gold winner), The Beechwood House (a traveling pub for Budweiser), and the Chase Bank Flagship Signage in Times Square.

His design sketches are held in private collections and in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress.

In addition to his professional practice, Mr. Allen has taught on the university level, lectured at Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Regionals, and at the Broadway Lighting Master Classes. He is the author of Vectorworks for Entertainment Design, published by Focal/Routledge Press, and several design/technical manuals published by Vectorworks.
