Aluízio Borém is an agronomist with a Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the University of Minnesota. He is currently a faculty member at the Federal University of Vicosa in Brazil and a member of the Brazilian Biosafety Committee, the regulatory agency responsible for biosafety assessment, monitoring, and regulation of biotechnology in Brazil. He is the author of several other books on genetics and crop science.

Fabrício R. Santos is a biologist with a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil), where he currently serves as a faculty member. His research interests include the molecular evolution of humans. He is a member of the Brazilian Genome Project and the National Network for DNA Sequencing.

David E. Bowen is an agronomist with an M.S. in applied plant sciences from the University of Minnesota. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Idaho, where he is researching nutritional and genetic improvements in wheat and barley.
