About the Author

John Putzier, M.S., SPHR, is the best-selling author of Get Weird! 101 Innovative Ways to Make Your Company a Great Place to Work which was nominated for Book of the Year by the Society for Human Resource Management, was listed as "New & Noteworthy" by Barnes & Noble, was identified as a "Top Ten Must Read" by online reviewer AchieveMax, and received a consistent 5-star rating on Amazon.com.

He is also President of FirStep, Inc., a performance improvement consultancy based in Prospect, PA, which he founded in 1985. He is also the founder and past President of the National Speakers Association–Pittsburgh and founder and past President of the Society for Human Resource Management High-Tech-Net.

Prior to forming FirStep, Inc., John worked in both the public and private sectors, including a decade with a Fortune 100 corporation, where he served as an Equal Employment Opportunity Officer and Manager of Employment, in a variety of human resources positions.

Subsequently, John was a member of the adjunct faculty of Carnegie Mellon University's H. John Heinz III Graduate School of Public Policy and Management, where he taught Organizational Behavior and Theory, and has served on a variety of boards of directors of professional associations.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Psychology (cum laude) from the University of Akron and graduated first in his class from The American University, Washington, D.C., with a Master of Science in Human Resource Development.
