DAVID BÁEZ-LÓPEZ

David Báez-López was born in Puebla, México. He attended the Universidad Autónoma de Puebla where he obtained a B.S. in Physics. He then obtained M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona. He has authored more than 80 research papers and 5 books. He has been a professor of Electronics at Universidad de las Américas-Puebla, UDLAP, in Cholula since 1985 where he was Head of the Department from 1988 to 1996, at the National Institute for Astrophysics, Optics, and Electronics, from 1979 to 1985, where he was also head of the Department of Electronics from 1983 to 1985, and he has been a visiting professor and researcher at Texas Tech University at Lubbock, TX, and at Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada. He is founder of the International Conference on Electronic Engineering CONIELECOMP, held every other year at UDLAP.

FÉLIX GUERRERO-CASTRO

Félix E. Guerrero-Castro is an electronics engineer working at Hackerspace (http://www.hackerspacecholula.org) in Cholula, Puebla, México. Among his daily activities are hardware development, consulting, web programming, and teaching kids how to program Arduino microcontrollers.

After receiving his Master’s Degree in Electronics in 2004, he spent six year as a lecturer teaching electronics at the Electronics Lab at Universidad de las Américas-Puebla UDLAP. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) 1999. He has published a number of research papers in power electronics, digital sound modelling, and biomedics. He also plays guitar and records local bands in his own studio. He enjoys traveling and taking landscape photographs.

OFELIA CERVANTES-VILLAGÓMEZ

Dr. Ofelia Cervantes-Villagómez holds a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Universidad de las Américas, Puebla, (May 1981), a Master of Sciences in Computer Systems from l’École Supérieure en Informatique in Grenoble, France, (June 1984), and a Ph. D. degree from l ‘Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France, (January 1988). Dr. Cervantes-Villagómez is co-founding member of the Laboratorio Nacional de Informática Avanzada, A.C. (National Laboratory for Advanced Informatics, A.C.) established in Jalapa. Ver. She was a member of the Directive Board for an eight-year period. Starting in the year 2000, she was designated by CONACYT to promote cooperation between Mexico and France and Germany to pursue research in Information Technologies. She participated also in the creation of the Mexican-European Informatics Laboratory, which has as collaborating countries Mexico, Spain, France, and Germany. Dr. Cervantes has experience as a professor, researcher and has consulted in Data Base Modeling, Distributed Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Automatic Speech Processing and Business Intelligence. She has taught a number of short courses and has many publications in these topics. She was a visiting research fellow in IMAG, Grenoble France (1995) and Université du Québec à Trois Rivières (2005). She has also been thesis director to several undergraduate and graduate students at the M.S. and Ph.D. levels. Dr. Cervantes-Villagómez was president of the Mexican Artificial Intelligence Society, President of the Mexican Association for International Education, as well as founder and president of the first Chapter of the International Association of International Educators Phi-Beta Delta. Dr. Cervantes-Villagómez is still active in teaching and research at UDLA. She is also the Honorary French Consul in Puebla since 2003.
