Virtual networks

Virtual networks support application components deployed on elastic infrastructures and platforms. These virtual communications resources rely on physical network hardware to communicate. Customers are, however, isolated from each other on this networking layer.

Physical resources, such as networking interface cards (NICs), switches, and routers, are abstracted into virtualized equivalents that can be managed by service provider customers. Using the self-service interface and CSP applications, customers can design, implement, and configure virtual circuits, firewalls, load balancers, network address translations (NAT), and network cross-connects.
