Successful careers do not happen by accident. As one makes the transition from being a student to a working professional, it is important to cultivate excellent personal and professional attitudes and develop the ability to adapt to changing situations. It is also complemented by a clear understanding of the modern day work culture.

From College to Career attempts to capture the essence of such career-building by focusing on several important topics, ranging all the way from initial job-hunting and the placement process to communication skills and social responsibility. Besides presenting some of the established concepts and viewpoints on these topics, we have also provided appropriate examples and tools to embed these ideas into one’s career planning. The content – especially the examples presented – has been carefully chosen to be of relevance to a budding Indian professional in a globalized world. In all, we cover twenty-four major topics, divided into five parts. We have intentionally kept the style simple to facilitate better understanding.

This book is patterned after the authors’ earlier book, The ACE of Soft Skills (also published by Pearson Education). It is ideally suited for colleges, universities and human resources departments of organizations to be incorporated into their career guidance or training programmes. It can also be used as a self-help book.
