6 Building Your Own Instruments and Effects

If you’ve read the QuickStart tutorials in Chapter 3, you will already have encountered many of the fundamental coding techniques that we’ll be looking at in Chapter 6. However, the time has come to discuss them in a more orderly and systematic way. Chapters 4, 6, 7, and 8 are the heart of Csound Power! Until you master the concepts in these chapters, or at least become familiar enough with them that you know where to look when you’re uncertain about something, using Csound will remain beyond your grasp.

In this chapter we’ll be looking at a grab bag of essential techniques—basically, everything important that didn’t fit into those other chapters. A few opcodes will be discussed in this chapter, but most of the details on opcodes will be found in Chapter 7, “Thirty Opcodes You Must Know.”
