String Manipulation Opcodes

Some Csound opcodes allow double-quoted text strings to be used as input arguments—for instance, as filenames. Because you may want your instrument to respond differently depending on other factors, you may find it convenient to assemble a string on the fly, in the instrument code, before passing the result to an opcode as an argument. String variables begin with a capital S- (or gS-, for global variables).

The string manipulation opcodes are well explained in The Canonical Csound Reference Manual, on the pages called out in the left pane of the HTML manual, so there’s little need to discuss them here.
