From the Panhandle to the Keys, there’s a beach to suit everyone – you just have to know where to look.

Family-Friendly Beaches
Beaches to please energetic youngsters include Fort Lauderdale, with banana boats and paddle boards, Sanibel Island, awash with seashells, and Palm Island, with bike trails, and shark’s teeth and sand dollars buried in the sand.
Remote Escapes
Beaches with a sense of isolation include St. George Island, with 22 miles (35 km) of unspoiled sands and the Canaveral National Seashore just 30 miles (48 km) east of Orlando – the longest undeveloped beach on the East coast. The Gulf Coast, too, has havens such as Caladesi Island State Park, only accessible by boat from Dunedin.
City Beaches
Even Florida’s biggest cities have that laid back coastal vibe, and you’re never far away from white sands. Miami has South Beach, with its high-rolling glamor, Art Deco architecture, and partying. Sarasota has two island beaches that welcome families by day and a party crowd at night. St. Pete Beach, off St. Petersburg, is famous for retro chic Don Cesar Hotel.
Hidden Gems
Finding a slower pace and a little more breathing room is easy in Florida. A short walk south from St. Pete Beach, for instance, is Pass-a-Grille, a quieter spot to sunbathe before enjoying the boutiques and ice-cream parlors in town. Farther south, Fort de Soto Park has five beaches, water sports, fishing, and scenic sands. North of Miami and Fort Lauderdale is arty Delaray Beach, with striking views.
